The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 is a $2,000 smartphone, and it is not water resistant or anything of the sort. Well, despite that, a YouTuber not only decided to test the Galaxy Z Fold 2 behavior when in contact with water, but he froze the device for 24 hours.
Do not try this at home, by any means. That’s a fair warning before we get into it. The YouTuber in question is Latrell Jennings, and his video is embedded below this article. The video itself has a duration of 9 and a half minutes, and it’s quite interesting.
Galaxy Z Fold 2 was diving for 5 minutes first, after which the YouTuber froze it for 24 hours
So, the first thing he did was, he filled up a plastic container with water, and placed the Galaxy Z Fold 2 inside for 5 minutes. What is surprising, is the fact that the phone survived. The display and the phone remained on, and they functioned well after being taken out of water.
The phone’s speakers even continued working really well. That is quite surprising considering that the Galaxy Z Fold 2 does not come with a water resistance rating of any sort. There was also no condensation on the cameras either.
Not surprisingly, the phone was frozen solid after 24 hours in the freezer. The source did mention that the phone was still on after 6 hours in the freezer. That is also quite surprising.
The phone did not power on after it was broken out of ice, and dried off a bit. That’s not surprising at all. Some rugged smartphones would have issues with something like this, let alone a foldable phone with no water resistance of any sort.

Samsung does deserve some praise here, though. Not only did the phone survive 5 minutes under water, and continued working, but the display was still on 6 hours after being put in the freezer.
It’s recommended you do not try any of this at home, though, as you may seriously damage your expensive smartphone. It’s nice to see that the Galaxy Z Fold 2 is much more durable than it looks.
