Snoozing notifications isn’t actually a new feature in Android 12. It debuted in Android 10, nearly two years ago. But Google has continued to improve this feature, and with Android 12, it is getting a big update.
Now, on notifications starting on Android 12. You will see a snooze button in the lower right-hand corner of the notification. By tapping on that icon, you can opt to snooze that notification for a little while. This can be useful if you have a reminder there for later tonight, or even tomorrow.
Once you snooze the notification, it still shows in your notification shade, but it will say that it was snoozed for however long you chose. You can opt to undo it, or you can change the length of time that the notification is snoozed for.
It’s actually really simple, and likely to be something that I’ll use a lot more now, starting in Android 12.
How can I enable this feature?
So you will need to enable this feature on Android 12. Just head to Settings then tap on Apps and Notifications, then Notifications and then tap on “Allow Notification Snoozing”.
It is currently a bit glitchy on Android 12. So after you enable this setting you may need to restart your phone. It’s a good idea to do that anyways.
Since this is the first developer preview, it is an all or nothing thing. You can either have it on for all notifications or on for none of them. But this is the first preview, so it is likely that we’ll see some changes to the settings here in the upcoming developer previews and eventual betas for Android 12. So do keep that in mind.
If you were a big user of this feature already, you can still swipe in from the right to open the old snooze icon and snooze the notification that way as well.
