Google debuted the new version of Chromecast with Google TV on September 30 last year. The Chromecast received the much-needed upgrade in terms of features.
Moreover, the Chromecast with Google TV came with a dedicated remote and a $50 price tag. Though the new Chromecast quickly became popular, it was also quick to be plagued with bugs.
Several users have reported a boot error bug that has surfaced recently on the device. The bug forces users to reset the device and warns the user that the “data may be corrupted.”
Users have taken to various social media platforms including Twitter, Reddit, and even Google’s own forums to report this issue. Reportedly, the error pops up randomly and users were finding it difficult to fix this issue.
Luckily, folks at Android Police were able to fix the issue on Chromecast. Further, Google has also officially fixed this boot error bug on Chromecast with Google TV via a new firmware update.
So, now there are two methods to fix this boot error issue. Notably, if the update has not arrived on your Chromecast then, you can opt for the manual fix. However, if the new firmware is live for your device, then you need to do nothing.
The new firmware also changes the instructions to give more clarity for average users
Let us first take a look at the manual fix that users can apply to fix the boot error issue on Chromecast. If your device is suffering from this error, then you won’t be able to use the remote.
Besides, your device will be stuck in recovery mode and the only button that you can make use of is the single button situated at the back of the dongle.
It could be a bit difficult if your TV is wall-mounted, but these are the hardships that you have to go through to fix modern technology problems.
Note that a single press of this button will let you cycle through the options on the recovery mode. On the other hand, long pressing this button would let you select one option.
If there is an error, then you should cycle through to the “Try again” option and select it to reboot the device. This simple move will fix the boot error problem.
Coming to the latest firmware, for the fortunate users who haven’t yet come across this issue, there is a new update available. You can check out the information about the latest update by heading over here.
The new firmware not only fixes this boot error on Chromecast with Google TV but also changes the instructions to make it clearer for average users to understand. Google says that the firmware will start seeding in the next two days.
