Have you ever gone so hard at the gym while wearing your Wear OS watch, and forgot to end your workout? According to XDA-Developers Google Fit for Wear OS will automatically detect when you finish a workout.
Before if you started a workout and did not end it Google Fit would continue recording everything. This would throw off your activity data. As a result, you would not get accurate results from your workouts. This can be an annoyance for users who are really focused on their health.
However, Google Fit for Wear OS will now detect when you finish your workout. If you have a workout brain and you forget to end your workout session on your watch, Google Fit on Wear OS will give you a prompt.
Google Fit for Wear OS now reminds you to stop your workout
The new prompt will which asks if you want to stop your workout. Reddit user u/ayyndrew spotted this, and another user u/Zwiada says your watch will also send a haptic feedback reminder. These new notifications will be grand for anyone who forgets to end their workouts constantly.
This new quality-of-life addition is definitely a welcome addition to Google Fit for Wear OS. It is not clear if this feature came as part of a server-side update or a new update to Google Fit. Either way, it seems to be widely available. As a result, users will be able to take advantage of this sooner rather than later.
Back in November 2020, Google Fit for Wear OS received a nice face-lift. That update brought along a revamped UI and new features. The new update includes new tiles to make starting workouts easier. In addition, the ability to set workout goals was introduced as well.
The latest update also gives users pace alerts while running, a Touch Lock button to prevent accidental touches, and a Breathe Tile for guided breathing sessions.
Wear OS has been the odd child of Google’s OS family. Where Android and Chrome OS receive all of the love and support, Wear OS sometimes gets neglected. Wear OS was originally known as Android Wear when it first launched. It was launched to combat Apple’s Apple Watch and Watch OS.
The first Wear OS watches suffered from some performance problems, and battery life problems. However, Qualcomm has introduced newer stronger chips specifically for smartwatches, and Google has optimized Wear OS more. With these improvements, Wear OS hopefully will continue to grow and improve.
