Huawei May Be Planning To Compete With PlayStation & Xbox

Huawei may be planning to compete with Sony’s PlayStation, and Microsoft’s Xbox. The company will release its very own gaming console, it seems, This information comes from a Chinese tipster.

Huawei may release a gaming console to compete with PlayStation & Xbox

Huawei is, allegedly, not only planning to release a gaming console, but a gaming laptop as well. That gaming laptop will probably come first, as it will mark the company’s entrance into the gaming segment.

This is quite interesting, though it’s the first time we’re hearing about the company’s gaming console, so take it with a grain of salt. Huawei is on the lookout to expand its horizons, due to the US ban and issues with its smartphone business.

The tipster did not specify anything else. We don’t know what this console will be called, when will it arrive, what it will look like, or anything of the sort. We don’t even know what to expect out of it in terms of software.

Getting a new gaming ecosystem off the ground won’t be easy

Huawei is a huge company, but getting a whole new gaming ecosystem off the ground is definitely not an easy task. Huawei learned that in the smartphone world, so this move doesn’t really make all that much sense.

On the flip side, Huawei could use Windows on this console, perhaps an adapted version of the platform, so that PC games end up being playable. I’m only guessing here, giving out options, as getting developers to adapt games to a whole new system definitely wouldn’t be easy.

In regards to the company’s gaming laptop, well, that’s something that’s doable. Huawei has been releasing Windows OS-based laptops for a long time now, and its former subsidiary, HONOR, did release a gaming laptop last year.

That being said, the idea of the company’s gaming laptop is not that far fetched, that’s for sure. The console, on the other hand, well… that’s a completely different story. It will be interesting to see what will happen, though.
