Android 11 Stable Update Is Now Live For The LG Velvet 5G

While rumors of LG mobile business shutting down becomes stronger, a piece of good news is surfacing on the internet for LG Velvet 5G users. Apparently, the Android 11 stable update is live for LG Velvet.

LG is keeping the smartphone industry on its toes by introducing less traditional devices under its Explorer Project. Last year, we had a swiveling phone, called the LG Wing. Though it packed mid-range specs, the attention was grabbed by its T-Shaped or Wing design.

Now, in 2021, LG has promised to bring out a rollable device sometime in March. In the meantime, it seems like LG will continue to lend its software support to its current line of devices, (at least one of them) as the 2020-flagship is ticked off the Android 11 list.

To recall, LG began beta testing Android 11 for LG Velvet 5G last month, and now it is rolling out the stable version of the update. This hints that the company did not find any major bug during beta testing.

Currently, the Android 11 stable update is live for users in South Korea. It is available for LG Velvet model LM-G900N and arrives with firmware version G900N2C.

The update weighs around 2.2GB in size. So, we would advise you to download the update on a stable and fast Wi-Fi connection to avoid any mishap.

It is likely that LG Velvet Android 11 update carries January 2021 security patch

Although we do not have the official changelog for this LG Velvet Android 11 update, we speculate it bumps the security patch level to the latest January 2021.

The changelog does not mention anything apart from “Android OS upgrade.” But one should expect a ton of new features from both Android 11 and LG.

Android 11 brings a bunch of improvements and goodies for devices this time around. Notably, it adds chat bubbles, a conversation section in the notifications area, a one-time permissions option, volume adjustment interface change, dedicated media playback widget, etc.

The update is rolling out via OTA in batches. So, it will take some time before it becomes readily available for everyone. However, you can manually check and download the update.

For that, head over to Settings>>System. From there, go to Update Center>>System Update and finally tap the Check for update button. If a new update is detected, then you can tap on the Download button.

This is considering that you live in South Korea, where the update is currently live. We hope it won’t take too long before the update expands over to other regions.
