Starting April 1, Stadia players will get to boot up Outriders, the highly anticipated looter shooter coming from Square Enix.
While the game is being published by Square Enix, Outriders is developed by People Can Fly. The studio is behind development of numerous shooter games with a massive following. Including Fortnite, Unreal Tournament, Gears Of War 1-3 and Gears Of War Judgement, and Bulletstorm just to name a few.
As a looter shooter, people can expect plenty of gear drops to outfit their character. RPG elements will also play a major role in allowing players to customize their character’s skills and abilities as they level up. In short Outriders is the latest game that will provide a gameplay experience similar to Destiny 2. The genre’s most popular title.
Pre-orders for Outriders on Stadia begin today
The game won’t be available till April 1 (that’s not an April Fool’s joke, hopefully). But those wanting to get a head start on purchasing the game can do so starting today.
As pre-orders for Outriders open up in the Stadia store right now. Outriders will provide both single-player and co-op content for players to dive into. Co-op content includes up to two other players, not unlike a three-person Destiny 2 fireteam. Which is likely to be needed for more difficult content.
The game has already gone through closed betas. So some players have already gotten the chance to try the game out. If you weren’t one of those players, not to worry. You’ll have another chance to the play the game early. Sooner than you’d expect.
Outriders will have a playable demo this month, but not for Stadia
The beta may be over, but there’s a playable demo coming this month. On February 25 to be specific. The only downside with the demo is that it won’t be available on Stadia. The demo won’t be available to Epic Games Store users either.
However, it will be available on all other platforms where the game is releasing. Which includes PS4 and PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X, and Steam on PC.
You will need an active Square Enix members account to download and play the demo. So that’s worth keeping in mind if you want to try it out. As for content, the demo includes four hours of gameplay. So you get a nice little chunk of what the game is like to better decide if you want to buy or pre-order it.
