The OnePlus 9 Pro will feature an improved display, it seems. This information comes from Max Jambor, a well-known tipster, who is almost never wrong when it comes to OnePlus leaks.
He went to Twitter to let everyone know that the OnePlus 9 Pro will feature an LTPO display. To those of you out of the loop, LTPO stands for Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide display.
The OnePlus 9 Pro will offer an improved display thanks to LTPO technology
Most AMOLED displays these days are LTPS displays, not LTPO ones. Samsung did use the LTPO technology on the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and Galaxy S21 Ultra, for example, while the iPhone 13 Pro models are rumored to do the same.
This technology has been originally developed by Apple for its smartwatches. What are the benefits? Well, LTPO displays draw less power than their LTPS counterparts. On top of that, they simplify the requirements for adaptive refresh rate.
In other words, the panel on the OnePlus 9 Pro will be more battery-friendly. The device will also join the ranks of smartphones with adaptive refresh rates, almost certainly. Max Jambor did not confirm that, but we’re guessing that will happen.
The entire Galaxy S21 series lineup features adaptive refresh rate displays, and so does the Xiaomi Mi 11. That enables the devices to be even more battery friendly, as they can actively change refresh rate as you use your device.
You can expect a 6.78-inch panel to be included
The OnePlus 9 Pro is set to feature a large WQHD+ display (6.78-inch panel is rumored) with an adaptive refresh rate (up to 120Hz). Its panel will be curved, unlike the panel on the regular OnePlus 9.
The device is also said to offer 65W fast wired charging, along with 45W fast wireless charging. The phone will be fueled by the Snapdragon 888, and it will ship with Android 11 out of the box.
