A new piece of information relating to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 has just surfaced. It suggests that the two phones will likely launch as planned, in either July or August.
The Galaxy Z Fold 3 & Z Flip 3 are coming as planned, hinge production will soon start
This information comes from Korea, and suggests that Samsung’s hinge supplier is ready to start making hinges for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3. Do note that we still don’t know what the Z Flip unit will be called, both Z Flip 2 and Z Flip 3 names are possible.
The Galaxy Z Flip got launched last year, while the Galaxy Z Flip 2 would be a logical follow-up. The thing is, Samsung is rumored to bring the Z Fold and Z Flip lineups to the same level, so the Galaxy Z Flip 3 may be the name instead.
In any case, the supplier we’re talking about is called ‘S-Connect’. This company has been manufacturing hinges for Samsung’s foldables since last year, and will start doing the same for new devices soon.
The company has announced that Samsung gave it the go-ahead for the project. Mass production for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 hinges will start in the second quarter of this year. Needless to say, mass production of the devices will follow.
Foldable smartphone market is expected to grow quite a bit
S-Connect actually expects the foldable market to grow to 5.5 million units this year. Interestingly enough, S-Connect expects that in 2023, hinges will make up 50-percent of its sales. For comparison’s sake, that will be a 33-percent increase compared to current sales.
Hinges are not the only thing that S-Connect manufactures for Samsung. The company is also making various metal parts for Samsung products, ranging from cases for Galaxy Watches, to the camera bump on the Galaxy S21 series.
The Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 are easily amongst the most anticipated smartphones in 2021. Foldables in general managed to become quite intriguing for consumers, and Samsung is probably the main reason why. The company has been completely ruling the foldable smartphone market.
