June Security Update Already Rolling Out To Galaxy S21 Series

We might still be a few days away from June but Samsung has already started seeding next month’s security patch to its devices. The June 2021 Android security update is now rolling out to the Korean firm’s latest flagships – the Galaxy S21 series. The phones are picking up the new update in the company’s home country South Korea. Expect the rollout to expand to other regions in the coming days.

The June security update for the Samsung Galaxy S21 series comes with firmware version G991NKSU3AUE8, G996NKSU3AUE8, and G998NKSU3AUE8 for the vanilla Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and the Galaxy S21 Ultra respectively. We don’t have a changelog handy so it’s unclear if the latest update brings any new feature to the three phones. You shouldn’t be expecting much though. The 2021 Galaxy flagships are running the latest version of Samsung’s One UI and boast all of the software prowess that the company has to offer.

As for the contents of the June 2021 Android security patch itself, those haven’t been detailed yet either. Google usually publishes the latest security bulletin in the first few days of the month. So we aren’t likely to get that information until next week.

Samsung, meanwhile, has made a habit of pushing the latest security patch to its devices a good few days before we enter the new month. Expect the company to roll out next month’s security update to a couple more devices before Google details the contents of the patch.

Galaxy S21 phones pick up the June 2021 security update

Recently, Samsung has been unmatched in terms of releasing the latest security patch to its devices. The company has consistently beaten other OEMs in this regard in recent times. This month is no different. It is not even June yet but the June 2021 Android security patch is already rolling out to Samsung’s Galaxy S21 series. In other news, the grass is green.

The over-the-air (OTA) rollout has only just started in South Korea. It may take a few days before the new update reaches other regions. Since the update is released in batches, it may not be available for all eligible units simultaneously. You should receive a notification to download the OTA update once it reaches your phone.

You can also manually check for updates through your phone’s Settings app. Simply scroll down to the Software update menu and tap on Download and install on the next screen. If there’s any update pending, you’ll be prompted to download it.
