Next-gen Huawei tablets and wearables will launch in early June. Based on a new report from China, Huawei will announce the MatePad 2 and Pro 2 tablets, in addition to two smartwatches on June 2.
What makes this launch quite interesting is the fact that all those devices are expected to run HarmonyOS 2.0. That is, at least, what the report is claiming will happen. HarmonyOS is ready for primetime, it seems.
Two Huawei tablets & wearables coming on June 2, with HarmonyOS out of the box
The two tablets will run a custom version of Harmony for tablets called “PadOS”, allegedly. Those two tablets will feature 12.2 and 12.9-inch 120Hz displays. The Kirin 9000 is expected to be included in at least the larger model.
40W wired and 27W wireless charging was tipped by the latest certification filing in China, at least for the MatePad Pro 2. The same may be available for the smaller unit as well, though. Each of these two tablets is expected to offer a 5G version.
Now, in regards to smartwatches. Huawei is expected to release the Huawei Watch 3 and Watch 3 Pro. HarmonyOS will come pre-installed on these two as well, but with a different UI, of course.
The source claims that both versions of the smartwatch will offer eSIM functionality in China. Both of them are expected to offer weaker battery life than the Watch GT series, though.
HarmonyOS is expected to power 300 million devices by the end of 2021
It is also worth noting that Huawei expects HarmonyOS to come to 300 million devices by the end of 2021. It remains to be seen if that will be doable for the company.
