Over the past six months or so, we’ve seen just about every streaming live TV service raise their prices. But there was one hold out – Philo. Until now. Philo has announced that beginning June 8, its monthly subscription cost for new customers will jump to $25. That’s a $5 increase per month. Which is actually about a 20% increase. It still remains one of the cheapest around, however.
Fortunately, if you sign up before June 8, you can keep the $20/month price. As this increase is only for new customers. That’s not something we see often, so it’s definitely worth taking advantage of. Especially if you want to switch over to Philo.
The price increase isn’t all bad news, though
Philo isn’t just raising prices, but it will also be increasing its unlimited DVR storage period. It’ll now be a full year, starting on June 8. Previously, it was only stored for 30 days. This puts it on par with YouTube TV (which does 9 months). Those are the only two services that offer unlimited DVR storage. Which is rather impressive. Particularly at this price.
With Philo, you’re not getting a ton of channels, instead, you’re getting a bunch of channels you won’t find on other services. There’s no local channels here either, so you will need to get an OTA antenna to get your local channels. But Philo does also offer a bunch of channels from ViacomCBS, which is not available everywhere.
For even $25/month, you’re getting 63 channels, plus the unlimited cloud DVR and more, which makes Philo such a great deal. Even with this price increase. And it’s definitely worth signing up for. Additionally, you can get a free seven-day trial for Philo, and check out the service before needing to pay for Philo.
It’s one of the more underrated streaming Live TV services out there and definitely worth checking out.
