Most 2021 Foldable Smartphones Will Be "Reasonably Priced"

We have some good news for those of you who are looking to buy a foldable smartphone this year. According to Max Weinbach, a well-known tipster, most 2021 foldables will be “reasonably priced”.

That kind of makes sense, as reports have been stating that both the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 will be a lot more affordable than their predecessors. Other OEMs are seemingly looking to do the same thing.

Most 2021 foldable smartphones will be “reasonably priced”, which are great news

Mr. Weinbach was asked what does he consider to be “reasonable”. To that tweet, he responded “Reasonable reasonable. Like significantly cheaper than prior years.”, and that sounds promising, to say the least.

As a reminder, quite a few smartphone OEMs are expected to announce their foldable devices in 2021. In addition to Samsung, Google, Vivo, and Xiaomi will announce their foldable handsets by the end of this year.

OPPO, HONOR & Motorola are said to follow Samsung, Google, Xiaomi, and Vivo

OPPO is said to wait until Q1 2022, and the same goes for HONOR, as the company is rumored to announce its first foldable in H1 2022. Motorola has allegedly either postponed, or cancelled the launch of this year’s ‘Razr’.

The company is said to be planning the launch of the next-gen Motorola Razr foldable for the second half of next year. It sure seems like Motorola is skipping an entire generation this time around.

Some other companies may be planning to announce foldable smartphones as well. The ones we talked about are the ones that have been mentioned most often, though.

It’s not surprising that foldable smartphones are becoming more affordable. Their price tags, up to this point, have been extremely high, and out of reach for most people. Many of those who could afford them stayed away as well, as many of those price tags were unreasonable.

The technology is progressing, and this is a natural order of things. Foldable devices will likely keep getting more and more affordable moving forward.
