Android 12 development for the Samsung Galaxy S21 series smartphones has allegedly started. This information comes from Max Weinbach, a well-known tipster.

Android 12 development for the Galaxy S21 series allegedly kicked off

Samsung has improved a lot when it comes to updates. It’s quite fast when it comes to issuing new updates now, especially when it comes to security updates. It improved in bringing new versions of Android as well, though.

Google started rolling out Android 12 beta builds in May, and the beta 2 is the latest one that arrived. It is available for a number of smartphones from various companies, including ASUS, OnePlus, Vivo, Xiaomi, OPPO, and so on.

What’s interesting is that Samsung is not on that list. The company seems to be working on One UI 4.0 which is based on Android 12, though. It allegedly already started adapting that build for its flagship Galaxy S21 series.

The company will, presumably, start rolling out this version of the software towards the end of the year. Google is expected to release a stable Android 12 build in either August or September.

The first Android 12 developer beta for Samsung smartphones is expected to land in August

It will take Samsung, and other OEMs, a bit of time to start rolling it out for their devices, though. Samsung is expected to show off One UI 4.0 in the near future. The first developer beta for it is expected to land in August.

The Galaxy S21 series will get the update first, which is not surprising. Other major handsets from the company may have to wait for Q1 2022 to get the update, but we’ll see.

Samsung released Android 11 to a lot of devices at this point, and it plans to do the same with Android 12. It has a lot of worthy phones lined up for the update, that’s for sure. The Galaxy Z Fold 3, Z Flip 3, and S21 FE are also expected to arrive this year. Those three phones will be high on the Android 12 update list as well.
