Gamers who are into Samsung’s line of gaming monitors will have a treat later on this year. The company has just unveiled its new lineup of 2021 Odyssey gaming monitors. They’ll come in a range of prices and sizes with some killer specs. This comes to us from the Samsung Newsroom.
Starting off these 2021 Odyessy gaming monitors is the Odyssey G3 duo of monitors
There will be two sizes for the Odyssey g3 monitors, 24 inches and 27 inches. In all honesty, Samsung didn’t exactly flaunt the resolution of these displays, so it’s safe to assume that they’re 1080p. They run at 144 Hz with a 1 ms response time. They also have AMD Freesync Premium to lock the monitor’s refresh rate to the content’s framerate. Both models come with a height-adjustable stand.
As for the prices, these aren’t the cheapest monitors in the world. The 24-inch model will sell for $249, and the 27-inch model will sell for $299.
The Odyssey G5 is the mid-tier monitor of the collection
Next, we have the Odyssey G5. This strikes a balance between the upper and lower tier monitors in this lineup. This 27-inch monitor is a step above the Odyssey G3 in every aspect.
The resolution will be QHD, which should look good with just about any game. Along with that, it’s running at a slightly better 165 Hz. Samsung is touting this as the first Odyssey with a QHD display and 165 Hz refresh rate. the Odyssey is compatible with both AMD Freesync and NVIDIA Gsync. This one also comes with a height-adjustable stand.
Since this is an improvement upon the Odyssey G3, you can expect the price to be a bit higher. The Odyssey will sell for $499- that’s definitely not cheap!
At the top of the pecking order is the Odyssey G7
For the most powerful and feature-packed monitor in the 2021 Odyssey gaming monitor lineup, we have the Odyssey G7. This is for the folks who want to get the absolute most out of their gaming experience. The Odyssey brings some additional goodies along with its improvements over the Odyssey G5.
It’s a 28-inch display that comes in at the almighty 4K. The refresh rate is a slightly lower 144 Hz, but it retains that 1 ms response time that’s present across the whole lineup this year. Like the Odyssey G5, it’s compatible with both NVIDIA Gsync and AMD Freesync Premium. Those are the improvements over the other monitors, but what else is there?
As for additions, the display will be a 178-degree ultrawide display. This is for those who want a more immersive gaming experience. That wide view is further bumped up by the addition of HDR400 and the Coresync design. Adding to that the Odyssey G7 will be HDMI 2.1 compatible.
If you’re expecting to get this for a bargain, then you’ll be sorely disappointed. The Odyssey G7 will sell for $799. The 2021 Odyssey gaming monitors will go on sale during the third quarter of the year.
