Galaxy Z Flip Is Now Getting June Security Patch, Following Its Sibling

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip is now getting the June 2021 Android security patch. This new update first started rolling out to the Galaxy Z Flip 5G quite recently, and it’s not the Galaxy Z Flip’s turn.

The Galaxy Z Flip is now receiving June security update in several markets

The Galaxy Z Flip (SM-F700F) is now getting this update in some African and Asian markets, but other markets will follow suit. This new update is marked as firmware version ‘F700FXXS5DUE1’.

The documentation regarding changes that this update brings is not yet available. Samsung will likely detail everything in the coming days. This update does bring some security-related updates, and possibly something in addition to that.

These security patches are always security-focused, as their name says, but OEMs tend to include some other changes and features from time to time, so you never know what you’ll get.

If you do have a phone with the said model number, and you live in Africa or Asia, the update should become available soon, if it hasn’t already. You can also manually check whether it arrived. Simply navigate to Settings -> Software update, and then tap on ‘Download and install’.

The Galaxy Z Flip 3 received Android 11 at the end of last year, while the Android 11-based One UI 3.1 update arrived a couple of months ago. At this point, Samsung can only roll out security patches to the device, as the phone is up to date in every other way.

Android 12 update will likely arrive on this device in Q1 2022

Android 12 is coming later this year, so the company is probably preparing to update its devices to it already. Samsung is doing great when it comes to updates, as it manages to keep a ton of its smartphones up to date.

The Galaxy Z Flip arrived last year, a couple of months before the ‘5G’ variant. The phone will get the Android 12 update, of course, though we don’t know when exactly. It will likely arrive in Q1 2022, but we’re only guessing.
