The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 will be thicker than the Z Fold 2. This information comes from Ross Young, a well-known display analyst. The info he shares is usually spot on, so chances are this is accurate as well.
The Galaxy Z Fold 3 will be thicker than the Z Fold 2 because of the digitizer
He tweeted out that the Z Fold 3 will be thicker than its predecessor, even with no polarizer. Even the UTG (Ultra Thin Glass) will feature the same thickness. So, why will it be thicker, then? The reason is… the digitizer.
The Galaxy Z Fold 3 will support an S Pen, in fact, Samsung is allegedly planning to release a special S Pen for the device. This will be the company’s first foldable to support its stylus. The digitizer is necessary to make that stylus what it is, so… there you go.
Mr. Young also added that the display on the phone will be considerably brighter. That will be possible because there is no polarizer here. The power consumption should be lower as well because of it.
The phone will also include a smaller battery this time around
That is one of the reasons why Samsung decided to reduce the battery capacity on the device. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 will feature a 4,275mAh battery, claims Ross Young. Its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold 2, included a 4,500mAh battery.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is expected to launch in August. That is, at the very least, what a recent rumor suggested. The device is expected to arrive alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 3, S21 FE, Watch 4, and Watch Active 4.
The Galaxy Z Fold 3, Z Flip 3, and S21 FE are supposed to fill in the gap left by the Galaxy Note series. As most of you know by now, Samsung has no plans to release a Galaxy Note smartphone this year.
The company may bring back the ‘Note’ series next year, though. At least that’s what a recent rumor suggested. The Galaxy Note series was quite popular for the company, so this is a somewhat strange choice, but… there you have it.
