Samsung’s flagship tablets won’t launch this year, it seems. According to a new report by Naver, a South Korean publication, the launch of those tablets is planned for early 2022.
Samsung’s flagship tablet may not arrive this year
We are talking about the Galaxy Tab S8 lineup, of course. Chip shortage could be the reason why they will arrive in 2022, and not 2021, that’s the first thing that comes to mind.
Truth be said, we didn’t see a single rumor regarding the launch timeframe for those tablets, so it’s possible Samsung planned an early 2022 launch from the get-go, we’ll never know. Chip shortage did push back the launch of the Galaxy S21 FE, so… it’s easily possible the same happened to the Galaxy Tab S8 series.
Samsung is expected to announce three tablets as part of this series, the Galaxy Tab S8, S8+, and S8 Ultra. Needless to say, the ‘Ultra’ model will be the most powerful of them all.
That tablet is expected to feature a 14.6-inch display, of the AMOLED variety, and a 12,000mAh battery. The other two tablets are expected to be similar to the Galaxy Tab S7 and S7+, but with the addition of a new SoC.
Both WiFi and LTE / 5G variants will likely launch
The company is expected to offer both WiFi and LTE / 5G flavors of these tablets. All three tablets will support the S Pen stylus, and chances are the same will go for Samsung’s keyboard accessory.
All three tablets will likely be made out of metal and glass, but nothing has been confirmed thus far. One thing is for sure, they will offer premium build, as did their predecessors.
We still don’t know how much will these tablets cost. The Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra could easily cross the $1,000 barrier, though, and by a noticeable margin. This will be a true powerhouse tablet, and it could even be priced at $1,200-$1,300.
The base Galaxy Tab S8, on the flip side, is expected to cost significantly less than $1,000. We’ll just have to wait and see.
