Amazon Now Broadcasts News From 158 Local Stations

What’s TV without news stations? Amazon has been expanding its free news stations ever since it started offering them last year. According to the company, it’s now broadcasting news stations in 158 cities.

With this, Amazon almost doubled the number of news stations

Amazon started offering local news to its users via Amazon Fire TV since last year. When this started, there were only 12 channels available but that number grew to 88 this spring. Now, Amazon expanded the number to 158 cities including Charleston (NC), Raleigh-Durham (NC), Wichita (KS), Tucson (AZ), Reno (NV), Honolulu (HI), and Lincoln (OR).

With this addition, Amazon basically doubled the amount of local TV stations that it broadcasts to. The company is now streaming 259 local stations to users. If you want to watch these stations, you’ll need an Amazon Fire stick or an Amazon Fire TV. The report has a list of cities, so it will help looking it over.

What is Amazon Fire TV, and why should you get it?

There are a lot of different smart TV operating systems out there, and Fire TV is one of the big ones. You can buy a TV with the OS already installed or a Fire TV stick to give your regular TV the capabilities.

The main thing about Amazon Fire TV is the fact that you can browse a myriad of different streaming apps including YouTube, Peakock, HBO Max, Disney +, Discovery +, Netflix, Hulu, and Prime Video, of course. There are hundreds more apps that can be downloaded and used watched.

You can use a Fire TV Stick

While you can buy a TV with the Fire OS installed, a lot of people opt to buy a Fire TV Stick. This is a streaming dongle that can turn your ordinary TV into a smart TV. All that you need to do is plug the dongle into the HDMI port. The Fire OS lives on the dongle, and it transfers the data to your TV.

While a full TV will cost you hundreds, the Stick typically costs less than $50. Depending on the model you get, you’ll be able to stream 4K content.

You have a powerful digital assistant built in

Just like how Android TV has the Assistant, Amazon Fire TV has Alexa. You can use Alexa to control the interface and search up content to watch. You’ll be able to talk to Alexa just like you’d talk to a person. If you’re looking for a powerful and well-rounded smart TV interface, you might want to try out Amazon Fire TV.
