Amazon Unveils Smart Air Quality Monitor With Alexa Built-In

Amazon has launched the Smart Air Quality Monitor, a small-sized device that can track the air quality inside your home. This unit can alert users when it detects carbon monoxide, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and dust particles. Moreover, it also keeps track of the humidity and temperature inside your home.

So what makes this different from other air quality monitoring devices? Well, Amazon is offering built-in Alexa support with this device. This allows users to receive a quick update on the air quality of their home using an Alexa voice command on compatible devices. Customers can also view air quality trends using the Echo Show or the Alexa mobile app (via).

As a bonus, the Smart Air Quality Monitor supports Alexa Routines, which can be used to automatically turn on ceiling fans, blinds, or smart thermostats. Additionally, users can receive warnings through the Alexa app or the Echo Show to take mitigation measures.

The Smart Air Quality Monitor will start shipping only by December

While the features are undoubtedly decent, the price tag makes this device an even more attractive offering. Amazon is charging $69.99 for this Smart Air Quality Monitor, undercutting the Netatmo Smart Indoor Air Quality Monitor as well as the Awair Glow C.

With more users turning attention towards indoor air quality, dedicated monitors are growing in demand. Earlier this year, Google issued an update to Nest Hub devices with the ability to display outdoor air quality.

The Amazon Smart Air Quality Monitor is currently up for pre-order in the U.S., Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the UK. The device will cost €79.99 across Europe and £69.99 in the UK. We recommend pre-ordering now because devices won’t start shipping until December.

Amazon is known to venture into the unknown. It recently unveiled a new range of televisions under the Fire TV brand. Known as the 4 Series and the Omni Series, both lineups pack 4K screens with support for HLG and HDR10.

The premium Omni Series will also include Dolby Vision for its 65 and 75-inch televisions. Meanwhile, this lineup also supports Alexa throughout the software, whereas the 4 Series TVs only support the Alexa remote.
