Sonos is going to launch a more budget-friendly soundbar within the next couple of weeks named the Sonos Ray soundbar. All that we really know is that it’s going to be smaller than the Sonos Beam and the Sonos Arc soundbars. Now, thanks to SnoopyTech on Twitter, we now have a sense of how big this speaker really is. We got a leak of the Sonos Ray in two colors.
We’ve been following some leaks pertaining to this new soundbar, and it’s definitely an entry-level soundbar. It’s a lot cheaper than the more expensive Beam ($449) and Arc ($899) soundbars. Because of the price cut, it’s lacking several features and ports present in those speakers.
Now, a leak shows us what the Sonos Ray will look like in the home
We’ve known about the price of the Sonos Ray ($249) and the feature set, but we haven’t gotten any official visuals showing the device. The Verge was able to make some renders based on images and descriptions, but nothing that we could call official.
But that was then, and now, we have some official images. This latest leak shows the Sonos Ray in all its sub-$300 glory. We see several images showcasing the device in two colors: white and black. The images show us a pretty compact device that can fit snugly under a TV or on a shelf. It’s a bit smaller than the other speakers, so you can expect it to be more portable.
Not only are there shots of the speaker in the home, but there are also some close-up shots of the speakers that leave nothing to the imagination. While these don’t show us what the speaker looks like without a cover, The Verge previously reported that it has four drivers. Two smaller drivers are in the center with the larger ones on the edges.
On the back of these speakers, we see very few bells and not many whistles. As stated before, the Sonos Ray lacks a lot of the features that make its more expensive brethren break banks. We see the connect button along with the ports. These are the power, optical, and ethernet ports, and that’s it.
So, if you’re looking to get a better speaker than the ones that come with your TV, then you might want to consider getting the Sonos Ray. It’s not for those who want the most from their TV experience, but it’s for those who just want a bit more. This device is not available just yet, but it’s expected to go on sale within the next couple of weeks.
