Disney has announced that its prices are going up for Disney+ and Hulu. Starting on October 10, the price of Disney+ is going to jump to $10.99 per month or $109.99 per year. That’s quite a jump. Considering Disney+ is currently $7.99, that’s a nearly 30% jump in price. However, we knew that this was going to happen. The amount of content available on Disney+, the $7.99 price was not going to last forever, and it appears its only lasting until October.
Hulu is also getting a price jump on both its ad-free and ad-supported tiers. The ad-supported tier is going to $7.99 from $6.99 per month. While the ad-free tier is going to $14.99 per month, from $12.99 per month.
The bundles are also changing. The Disney Bundle with Disney+ and Hulu (and ads) is going to be $9.99 per month, that’s a new bundle that is not available today. The classic Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+ (with ads) bundle is going to actually drop to $12.99 per month. This is because of the Disney+ service getting ads. Then we have the premium Disney bundle, which is no ads on Disney+ and Hulu, but ads on ESPN+, which will be $19.99 per month. Which is still a really good deal, even if you don’t want ESPN+, since Disney+ no ads is going to be $10.99 and Hulu no ads is going to be $14.99, that’s $25.98 without factoring in the $9.99/month for ESPN+.
Ads are coming to Disney+
Disney had announced this earlier in the year, but now we’re getting more context here. Disney+ is going to get an ad-supported tier. And basically take the place of the current tier, price-wise. That’s going to upset a lot of people, but it is going to allow for cheaper bundles too. And that’s what Disney really wants to push, to help pad the subscriber numbers across their services.
Disney+ with ads is going to cost $7.99 per month, and you can add in Hulu into the bundle for just $9.99/month. Which is a really good deal.
It’s important to note that because everything on Disney+ is owned by Disney and its studios, it is able to run ads alongside every piece of content on the service. So everything that is available on the ad-free tier, is going to be available on the ad-supported tier.
