Marvel's Spider-Man 2 releases Fall 2023 for PS5

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 for PS5 finally has a release date. Although, not an exact one. Perhaps it’s better described as a release window, since the general timeframe has been confirmed but an actual date has not. Either way, players now have an idea of when they’ll be able to play.

Insomniac Games announced Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 during a special PlayStation reveal trailer back in September of 2021. But at that time there was no mention of when the game was planned to launch. In a post today over at PlayStation Blog, Insomniac Games confirms that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be arriving in the Fall of 2023. That’s a little under a year away.

And while it would be great for the game to come out sooner, fans no doubt would rather have a more polished game. So hopefully Insomniac takes as much time as it needs. And so far it has been. Putting a statement out in February saying “it’s being made” when asked about when it was coming out.

Spider-Man 2 will be a PS5 release

This probably doesn’t surprise anyone, but Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will release on PS5 only. With no planned launch for PS4 or PS4 Pro. Eventually, far down the road, the game should make its way to PC. Now that both previous games in the series are available on Steam.

Speaking about the release for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 next year, Creative Director at Insomniac Bryan Intihar says “What a year it’s been for PlayStation Studios; here at Insomniac Games we’ve been in absolute awe of the work of our peers.” “Congrats to everyone on a successful 2022… and here’s to next year being just as exciting as we continue to get Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 ready for release next fall.”

Outside of Spider-Man 2, Insomniac is also developing Wolverine for PS5. Though, it has no release window and is likely still far out. Insomniac has admitted that the game is still in early development. So a release beyond 2023 doesn’t seem to out of the question.
