Double XP weekends are a somewhat rare occurrence in Modern Warfare II, so it’s best to take advantage of them when they show up. Especially if you’re trying to level up your character. If you’re already at the level cap of 250, then Double XP isn’t going to do anything for you, unfortunately.
But it’s a great opportunity for anyone who isn’t at the level cap to gain those extra levels. This is of course important for a few reasons. Leveling up unlocks opportunities for access to additional weapons and blueprints. You also gain Prestige ranks once you reach certain levels. These weekends can also be a great opportunity to get new players into the game as they will be able to level up much faster than normal. So if you have a friend who you’ve been trying to convince to play, now is the best time to do so.
The Double XP weekend in Modern Warfare II is now live
For any players needing to take advantage of Double XP in Modern Warfare II, the event is now live. Officially it went live at around 11:22am PST this morning according to Infinity Ward. You should have until Monday morning before the event is over to gain any extra ranks you need. Which is plenty of time to chip away at that level 250 cap if you aren’t quite there yet.
Worth noting is that this event is only for Double Rank XP. It does not include Double Weapon XP. So if you’re already at the max rank of 250 but still need to level up weapons, you’ll have to deal with leveling them at the normal pace. Or pop a Double Weapon XP token if you have any.
The Double XP event is live for all platforms where Modern Warfare II is available, too. Which means it doesn’t matter if you play on PC, Xbox, or PlayStation.
