Samsung‘s Galaxy S23 series recently appeared in a fresh set of high-resolution renders. While the phones leaked in renders in the past as well, the latest batch showed them in all of their rumored colorways. It gave us a more realistic look at what’s coming out through the Korean firm’s doors in a few weeks. The new leak expectedly got people talking about the upcoming Galaxy flagships. Fans started picking up their favorites between the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra. Turns out, the design everyone was adoring is inaccurate. The renders are reportedly fake, or at least not true representatives of the Galaxy S23 trio.
The newly-leaked Galaxy S23 renders are fake
The latest batch of Galaxy S23 renders was first posted on a Korean forum. They were soon all over the internet. Samsung’s new flagships always garner a lot of interest in the market, so that isn’t surprising. However, noted tipster Ice Universe busted them to be fake. The tipster noticed plenty of discrepancies in them. Firstly, the camera circles on the back of the Galaxy S23 Ultra are larger than what the renders showed. The laser autofocus module (IR emitter) is also reportedly black on the upcoming Ultra. The renders showed a red IR emitter, the same as last year’s model.
Moreover, the Galaxy S23 Ultra is rumored to have flatter edges with steeper falls from the rear and front glass panels. The leaker imagery suggests more rounded edges. Last but not least, the antenna lines are reportedly depicted incorrectly in these images. The tipster doesn’t reveal their accurate positions but the renders show one antenna line at the top and two at the bottom, at least on the Ultra model. No such lines are visible on the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+. Perhaps that’s further proof of the renders being fake. These devices also get an Armor Aluminum frame and should contain antenna lines.
Having said all this, let us add that the design shown in these renders isn’t way off the real thing. The Galaxy S23 lineup will still look a lot like what you can see in the images below and above. Just that they aren’t entirely accurate. With the official unveiling just a few weeks away, we should soon get to see the accurate renders as well. Samsung doesn’t appear to be trying to plug leaks, so watch out for a host of those in the build-up to the launch. The Galaxy S23 series ware rumored to go official on Wednesday, February 1.
