Galaxy S23 leaks keep coming as we move closer to the official launch on February 1. We recently saw the entire lineup in high-res renders from various angles in multiple colors. Previous leaks have also revealed most key specs of the upcoming Samsung flagships. Noted tipster Ice Universe has now shared some data revealing the bezel sizes on the Galaxy S23 trio, and how they compare with their respective predecessors in terms of bezels and design.
The Galaxy S23 series doesn’t bring many design changes
We already know that Samsung hasn’t made many changes to its flagship design this year. That means we still aren’t getting symmetric bezels on the Galaxy S23 Ultra. The chin is a little larger than the bezels on the other three aside. According to the source, the setup is largely unchanged from the Galaxy S22 Ultra. They are reporting a chin size of 3.6mm, left and right bezels of 2.2mm, and a top bezel of 2.7mm. These dimensions include the width of the device’s frame that is visible from the front. The Korean behemoth would have done better to offer at least symmetric top and bottom bezels, but not to be.
That said, the Galaxy S23 Ultra isn’t a copy of its predecessor. There are a few design changes elsewhere. Samsung has moved the power and volume keys down a little. The camera circles are marginally bigger too. But that’s about it. Hardly anything else changes. However, if you look at the vanilla Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+, you’ll find more differences from the 2022 models. Most notably, the rear camera design has been completely revamped for the sake of consistency across the lineup. We no longer have the contour-cut camera housing. Like on the Ultra model, sensors protrude out of the back panel individually.
As expected, you will not find many changes on the front. But Samsung seems to have cut the bezels a little this year. The source reports a bezel size of 1.9mm on the vanilla Galaxy S23 and 1.7mm on the Galaxy S23+ (excluding the frame). If true, the latter will reportedly have the slimmest bezel on any smartphone yet. To top it off, the punch-hole camera cutouts are a little smaller too. Meanwhile, the company seems to have moved the physical buttons higher on these two models. Since they are smaller than the Ultra model, this change may not affect accessibility much. Stay tuned for the big launch event in a couple of weeks.
