Smartphone enthusiasts are now counting down to Samsung‘s Galaxy S23 launch. The new flagships will debut on February 1, 2023. And as the day comes closer, leaks are coming thicker with more information. Reputed tipster Ice Universe recently shared some details about the Galaxy S23 Ultra that we haven’t heard before. The new Ultra flagship from Samsung will reportedly come with improved speakers, an improved microphone, and better camera autofocus and stabilization.
According to the source, the Galaxy S23 Ultra will boast better speaker sound quality than the 2022 model. The improvement is particularly notable in the bass. Speakers aren’t the strongest points of the current Samsung flagship. So any improvement in this area would be welcome. To top it off, the company also seems to have improved the microphone, which has been labeled “excellent” by the source. We should be in for less wind noise and a clearer voice during calls or in audio recordings.
Additionally, Samsung seems to have finally got rid of its camera autofocus woes. Many Galaxy users have found their phones to be slow in detecting and focusing on the subject automatically. The company has been improving in this regard in recent years but autofocus is “no longer a problem” on the 2023 model. At least according to Ice Universe. Last but not least, Samsung has reportedly improved camera stabilization on the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
There have been rumors of the company switching to sensor-shift stabilization technology this year. As the name suggests, it moves the sensor to compensate for shakes. Samsung currently uses OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), which moves the lens. Sensor shift is regarded as a better stabilization solution for smartphone cameras than OIS. It’s unclear if the Galaxy S23 Ultra employs the former or sticks to the latter. Apple has been using sensor-shift stabilization in iPhones for a few years now.
The Galaxy S23 Ultra will bring upgrades in several other areas
These aren’t the only areas where the Galaxy S23 Ultra will see upgrades over its predecessor. Samsung is also equipping the phone with improved cameras. Most notably, the new flagship will feature a 200MP primary shooter. The handset will also reportedly get an improved display, a bigger and faster under-display ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, stronger glass protection on the front and back, the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, and the latest memory (LPDDR5X) and storage (UFS 4.0) solutions. Just about three more weeks to go now before things are official.
