Last year, Motorola launched the Moto Edge 40 Pro in China as the Moto X 40. This year, this phone is heading to the global markets. The Edge 40 Pro is a successor to Edge 30 Pro and features excellent specifications.
For starters, the Motorola Edge 40 Pro comes with a large 6.75-inch FHD+ curved AMOLED display. The refresh rate is set at an impressive 165Hz, and DC Dimming, HDR, and 10-bit color support are also included. The phone is available to purchase in both black and blue colors. Until this point, all specifications for this phone mirrored the Moto X40, but the hardware configuration in the Edge 40 Pro is a bit different.
Motorola also added a 50MP primary sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide angle sensor, and a 12MP telephoto camera for the cameras on the rear. The selfie camera is a 60MP shooter that promises glamorous selfies. This is one of the rare occasions when the selfie camera has a higher resolution than the main camera.
Motorola Edge 40 Pro launch with high-end specifications
For the hardware part, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor powers the phone. An Adreno GPU is also here for graphics. This hardware combination seems pretty decent for most customers.
Customers in Europe will likely get the Edge 40 Pro with 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. Unfortunately, there are no more variants coming globally. For a quick comparison, the Moto X40 launched in China with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. Customers in China could also opt for a variant with 12GB RAM and 256GB/512GB storage.
In the end, the Motorola Edge 40 Pro is expected to launch with Android 13 and a 5,000mAh battery with support for 125W wired and 15W wireless charging. The starting price for the phone could be around €850 in Europe and Rs 60,000 in India. Judging by the price, the Edge 40 Pro may have difficulty convincing fastidious European customers. The Google Pixel 7 Pro is a fierce competitor in the same price range in Europe.
