The RedMagic 8 Pro became official at the very end of last year in China. We knew that the global version of the RedMagic 8 Pro is coming, and that’s exactly what just happened. The company announced all the details.
The global variant of RedMagic 8 Pro is now official
This is basically the same phone as the one that launched in China, but with global software. It also comes in two RAM + storage variants, and not three that are available in China. The 8GB RAM model will not be available globally.
Also, please do note that the RedMagic 8 Pro+ was not launched globally. That variant of the phone is very similar to the regular Pro model, but it came with even faster charging in China, but it also included a smaller battery. The Pro+ model also features a see-through back in China. The thing is, the official RedMagic 8 Pro images do include a variant with a see-through back. so it’s possible the RedMagic 8 Pro will be available in that version too.
Having said that, the RedMagic 8 Pro has flat sides, and three cameras on the back. The design of the phone is quite boxy, and the bezels are thin. The phone includes a flat display, in case you were wondering.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is included, along with LPDDR5X RAM & UFS 4.0 flash storage
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC fuels this smartphone, while you can choose between 12GB and 16GB RAM models. Those two variants come with 256GB and 512GB of storage, respectively. Do note that LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 flash storage are used here.
The phone includes a 6,000mAh battery, and supports 65W fast wired charging. There is a second-gen under-display camera included on the phone, so there’s no display camera hole on it, or anything of the sort.
The RedMagic 8 Pro includes an improved 20,000 rpm turbofan for high-speed cooling, and dual shoulder triggers at 520Hz. RedMagic OS 6.0 (based on Android 13) is a part of this package too.
This large display supports a 120Hz refresh rate & 960Hz touch sampling rate
A 6.8-inch fullHD+ (2480 x 1116) AMOLED display sits on the front side of the phone. We’re looking at a screen-to-body ratio of 93.7-percent here. That display’s brightness goes up to 1,300 nits at its peak. That display offers a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 960Hz touch sampling rate. It’s also a 10-bit display.
A 50-megapixel main camera (Samsung’s GN5 sensor) is backed by an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. Bluetooth 5.3 is also a part of the package here, as is Wi-FI 7 support. The Vapor Chamber (VC) liquid cooling plate inside the phone has also been improved.
The phone measures 163.98 x 76.35 x 8.9mm, while it weighs 228 grams. The 12GB RAM model of the phone is priced at $649/Є649, while the 16GB RAM model costs $799/Є749.
