Amazon Luna lets you purchase game add-ons

Amazon Luna is giving subscribers the ability to purchase game add-ons for titles they play using the service. Yes, that means Luna is adding micro transactions. The thing to keep in mind here, is that you don’t own any of the games you play on Luna. Amazon refreshes the lineup from time to time by removing some titles and adding in others. Currently it adds anywhere from 3-10 games a month. It’s also getting ready to remove 53 titles here soon.

The reason this is important is because you need to know that your purchases may end up being in a sense, null and void. If you make a purchase for game add-ons for a game you currently play, but then Amazon removes it from Luna before you can use everything, the add-on essentially becomes useless.

Basically, use your best judgment when considering an add-on purchase. Since it’s possible the games could leave the service at any time.

Luna game add-ons are only for Devil May Cry 5

It’s possible that Amazon may be currently testing the ability to make these purchases. As pointed out by 9To5Google, Devil May Cry 5 seems to be the only game that has add-on purchases enabled. But if this were a wider rollout, it would be a reasonable assumption that more games would have add-ons available.

Either way, if you’re playing Devil May Cry 5 on Luna, you can now purchase Red Orbs and Blue Orbs. It’ll cost you $2.99 for 5 Blue Orbs. With the Red Orbs, you can make purchases starting at 100,000 for $1.99, all the way up to 1,000,000 for $19.99. These are the same costs you’ll find for the same amount of items for this particular game on PS4 and PS5. The difference being that you can actually own the game on those consoles.

All that being said, the add-ons being available aren’t necessarily a bad thing. Especially if you get your enjoyment out of them.
