We have a new fastest-charging smartphone, the Realme GT Neo5 240W. This phone supports 240W charging, and has thus become the world’s fastest-charging smartphone. It can fully charge in under 10 minutes.
This phone launched with support for 240W charging, and has a 144Hz display
This handset is not all about charging, though, not at all. It has more tricks up its sleeve, as does its sibling, more on that in a minute. As you can see, the phone has a really interesting back side, which we’ll talk about in just a second. On the front, it has a flat display, and a centered display camera hole.
You will notice a large camera island on the back. Two cameras sit on the left side, while there is an interesting, squarish light effect on the right. Realme refers to this as the e-sports beserk light effect, and it’s supposed to light up during gaming. This can also be used for notifications, though, of course. It’s customizable.
There are two different models to talk about here
The device is fueled by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, and it comes in two different models. The Realme GT Neo5 and Neo5 240W have been announced. These two phones are identical in almost every way. There are a couple of differentiating factors, though, so let’s get those out of the way.
The Realme GT Neo5 ships with a 5,000mAh battery, and 150W wired SuperVOOC charging support. The Realme GT Neo5 240W has a 4,600mAh battery, and support for 240W SuperVOOC wired charging.
That’s not all, though. The Realme GT Neo5 comes in 8GB, 12GB, and 16GB LPDDR5X RAM options. All of those models include 256GB of UFS 3.1 flash storage. The ‘240W’ model comes with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and 256GB or 512GB of UFS 3.1 flash storage.
A 144Hz AMOLED display is included in the package
In every other way, these two phones are the same, and I’ll refer to both as the Realme GT Neo5 from now on. The Realme GT Neo5 includes a 6.74-inch fullHD+ (2772 x 1240) AMOLED display. That display has a 144Hz refresh rate, and its brightness goes up to 1,450 nits.
Android 13 comes pre-installed on the device, with Realme UI 4.0 skin. There are two SIM card slots included here, both are nano SIM, by the way. You will also find an optical in-display fingerprint scanner here, and the same goes for stereo speakers.
A 50-megapixel main camera (Sony’s IMX890 sensor, OIS, f/1.88 aperture, 23.6mm lens) is backed by an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera (Sony’s IMX355 sensor, 112-degree FoV, f/2.2 aperture), and a 2-megapixel microscope lens (GC02M, f/3.3 aperture). A single 16-megapixel camera (Samsung’s S5K3P9 sensor, f/2.45 aperture) sits on the front.
Realme included a variable heat dissipation system here
Realme included a variable heat dissipation system here, with a 6,580mm² cooling area, and 4,500m² 3D VC cooling. A 1,500Hz gaming control engine is also included, as is the antenna matrix system 2.0.
The Realme GT Neo5 measures 163.85 x 75.75 x 8.9mm. It weighs 199 grams. The phone launched in China, but it is coming to global markets soon. The Realme GT Neo5 pricing starts at CNY2,599 ($383) in China, while the cheapest Realme GT Neo5 240W costs CNY3,199 ($471).
