Even Twitter is looking to launch an AI chatbot

AI image generators are popping up all over the internet, and it looks like AI chatbots are following the same tracks. Several companies like Microsoft and Snapchat are going the OpenAI route and releasing their own bots. Now, Elon Musk is looking into making a chatbot for Twitter.

So, AI chatbots have invaded search engines with Bing AI and Google’s Bard. Not only that, but they seem to be making their way over to social media. Snapchat announced that it’s releasing an AI chatbot powered by ChatGPT. Called My AI, this would allow people to message a chatbot that would deliver results in the same fashion as GPT.

There will be limitations such as you won’t be able to get any results that don’t comply with Snapchat’s guidelines. Also, it’s only going to be available to Snapchat+ users for the moment. The company will release it to the rest of the users eventually.

Twitter could have an AI chatbot

Right now, Twitter is going through a tough time. Since Elon Musk took over, there’s been a flurry of drama, layoffs, and stress over at the HQ. The billionaire announced that he planned on stepping down as CEO of the company at some point this year, and that’s got some users in good spirits.

However, this isn’t stopping him from making big changes in the meantime. According to The information, (via CNET), Elon wants to add an AI chatbot to Twitter. He seems to be planning on working on developing a research lab. For it, Musk contacted AI researcher Igor Babuschkin. He previously worked at Alphabet on its DeepMind AI.

People close to the matter told this to The Information, so nothing has been officially confirmed. This means that you’ll want to take this with a grain of salt. It appears to be in the early stages of development at the moment, so who knows how long it will be before we see this materialize?

Back in 2018, Elon Musk burned his bridges with OpenAI, the company he actually helped found back in 2015. This makes it the sweetest irons, as the company could have easily integrated ChatGPT if Elon still kept in touch with the company.

But, it looks like Elon wants to build a competitor from the ground up just like Google. At this point, there’s no telling when Twitter will have a user-facing product, but it could be a little too late. ChatGPT is already super accessible, and Google’s Bad already looks pretty finished (except for its little slip-up). Bing AI and My AI are already in testing, so twitter’s chatbot will definitely have a tall hill to climb.
