Samsung readying major camera update for the Galaxy S23 series

Samsung is reportedly readying a “big update” for the Galaxy S23 series. The update, which will arrive later this month, will improve camera performance. The company may also push other improvements and new features to the latest Galaxy flagships.

The Korean firm hasn’t officially announced this planned update for the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra. But noted Twitter tipster Ice Universe recently said that they confirmed it. “I confirm that at the end of March, [the] Galaxy S23 series will have a big update, which will involve camera optimization,” they tweeted a few days back.

The tipster didn’t share further information about the content of the upcoming software release for the Samsung flagship trio. Some early buyers have complained about focusing and shutter lag issues with the camera of their brand-new Galaxy. The phones reportedly struggle to stay focused on the subject for a long time. For some, photos come out with patches of blurriness. Shutter lag, meanwhile, has been a long-standing issue with Samsung phones and it reportedly exists on the latest flagships too.

Night Mode could be another area of focus (no pun intended) of this update. Ice Universe previously pointed out problems with photos taken during low-light conditions. The images often come out oversharpened. The Galaxy S23’s HDR hasn’t been the best either. Samsung would be looking to quash all of these camera problems with the upcoming update. Some users have also noticed problems with the S Pen (on the Ultra model) and Wi-Fi connectivity. The new update should take care of those bugs as well.

The Galaxy S23 series to get a big update soon

Samsung may not have officially announced a new update for the Galaxy S23 series, but it isn’t uncommon for new smartphones to pick major software releases a few months after their launch. These updates usually iron out bugs and performance issues that may exist in the factory-build software. The Galaxy S23 lineup has already picked up two updates, but neither was a major release.

As usual, we will let you know when the new update rolls out for the phone. But you can also check for updates manually from the Settings app. Go to the Software Update menu and tap on Download and install. If an update is available, you will be prompted to download it. If you don’t see any updates, wait a few days and check again.
