The Vivo X Flip is coming, and its name just got confirmed. The phone got its Google Play certification, and it’s listed, clear as day, that the device will be called the Vivo X Flip.
The Vivo X Flip name has been confirmed for the company’s first clamshell foldable
This won’t be the company’s first foldable smartphone, but it will be its first clamshell foldable smartphone. The Vivo X Fold and Vivo X Fold+ have already launched, but those are book-style foldable handsets.
Considering that the two phones are branded as ‘X Fold’ devices, it makes all the sense in the world to name the clamshell foldable the ‘X Flip’. Samsung really standardized ‘Fold’ and ‘Flip’ names at this point.
The Vivo X Flip is rumored to be launching next month, at least in China. The global launch may follow at a later point, but it remains to be seen. There’s no official info just yet.
It will feature the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, 12GB of RAM & more
The Vivo X Flip did surface at Geekbench, confirming that the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is its SoC of choice. That variant of the phone featured 12GB of RAM, but an 8GB RAM model may be in the pipeline too.
The device will support 44W fast charging, based on the 3C certification. Now, based on rumors, we’re looking at a 6.8-inch main foldable display here. That will be a fullHD+ panel with a 120Hz refresh rate.
A 50-megapixel main camera was also mentioned, and the same goes for a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera. The phone is tipped to include a 4,400mAh battery.
Based on an older Vivo X Flip mockup, it will include a circular camera island on the back, and below it a rather generous cover display. The competition in the foldable market is heating up, let’s just hope more of these devices will land in markets outside of China.
