Earlier this month, Motorola launched the Edge 40 Pro as its latest flagship smartphone. The company is now gearing up to unveil a stripped-down model, the Motorola Edge 40. Leaks have already revealed the detailed specs and design of the unannounced phone. As we wait for its launch, the handset has appeared in another set of renders courtesy of reliable leaker Evan Blass.
Blass recently shared a bunch of renders showing the Motorola Edge 40 in black, blue, green, and magenta colors. Based on earlier leaks, the company will market these color options as Eclipse Black, Lunar Blue, Nebula Green, and Viva Magenta, respectively. The images themselves appear to be part of the Lenovo-owned firm’s official press and marketing materials.
The magenta variant appears to be an outcome of Motorola’s partnership with Pantone, which kicked off with the Motorola Edge 30 Fusion last year. It’s the same magenta shade complete with the “Pantone Viva Magenta” branding on the back. As revealed before, the blue variant has a smooth matte acrylic back while the other three variants get a textured finish. Rumors are that Motorola is giving them a vegan leather rear panel.
The Motorola Edge 40 is curved from the front and back but the edges are flat. The top edge is a little recessed, though. It has the Dolby Atmos branding along with a microphone hole. We can also see antenna lines on the frame, confirming a metallic body. The bottom edge has the SIM tray, a speaker grille, a USB Type-C port, and the primary microphone. The volume rockers and the power button are on the right side.
Motorola Edge 40 rumored specs
As said earlier, leaks have already revealed plenty about the Motorola Edge 40. It sports a 6.55-inch display of Full HD+ display (1080×2400 pixels) resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, and 1,200 nits of peak brightness. The device is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 8200 processor, paired with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB/256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Motorola has included a 50MP primary rear camera with OIS (optical image stabilization), a 13MP ultrawide lens, and a 32MP selfie camera.
The leaked marketing materials of the Motorola Edge 40 also confirm an under-display fingerprint scanner, an IP rating for dust and water resistance (probably IP68), and Android 13. Other rumored specs include a 4,400mAh battery with 68W wired charging and 15W wireless charging. Considering the volume of leaks in recent days, the Motorola Edge 40 shouldn’t be too far off its official launch. Stick around and find out.
