Now Playing on Pixel may show you stats on your past music

Google introduced a unique and interesting feature with the Pixel 2. It’s called Now Playing, and a potential new update might show you stats on the music you listened to. This was surfaced by Kieron Quinn on Twitter (via 9To5Google).

If you don’t know what Now Playing is, then you’ll want to know if you’re a Pixel user. If you’re in an environment where there’s music playing, your phone will use its microphones to detect what music is playing and display it on your AOD.

It’s perfect if you hear a song that you want to identify but you’re not able to summon Google Assistant. There’s a chance that it won’t come enabled on your Pixel phone by default.

If you want to enable this feature, go to your settings and go to the Sounds and Notification settings. Scroll down until you see the Now Playing section. There, the app will give you some more information on the feature and let you toggle it.

Now Playing may soon show you stats on the music you listened to

Since this was discovered hidden in the software, you’ll want to take it with a grain of salt. There’s a chance that Google will take it away. This feature will show you a page with several different stats about your listening habits over the past 30 days.

You’ll see information like the top genres, the songs you listened to the most, the artists you listened to the most, and the times of the day you listened to music. It also shows you a graph showing you the genres you listened to.

It’s an interesting addition because it can give you some insight into the music you typically listen to. Right now, there’s no word on when Google will release this feature. It seems pretty complete based on the screenshots, so the wait might not be super long. There’s always the possibility of Google releasing this feature in a future feature drop.
