The Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 will become the company’s third-gen book-style foldable, and it’ll include a periscope camera, it seems. That’s not the only spec info that got shared, though. Digital Chat Station, a well-known Chinese tipster, had more to say.
The Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 is coming in H2 2023 with a periscope camera
First and foremost, he did say that we can expect this foldable to launch in the second half of the year. That is to be expected as the MIX Fold 2 arrived at the end of August. That foldable also didn’t launch globally.
The first two MIX Fold devices did not see a global launch, actually. The third one, might, though. Xiaomi’s competitors have started pushing their foldable phones to global markets, so it’s about time Xiaomi does the same.
In any case, in addition to the periscope camera, this phone will also include the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. It will be water and dust resistant too, it seems, though we don’t know the specifics yet.
67W wired charging will be included here, but wireless charging will be as well. The phone is expected to offer 50W wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging as well.
It will be thinner & lighter than its predecessor
The last piece of information that the tipster shared is that this device will be both thinner and lighter than its predecessor. That is quite a feat as the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 is quite thin for a foldable, while it’s not all that heavy either (considering its size and the fact it’s a foldable phone).
The Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 measures 5.4mm when unfolded, and 11.2mm when folded. It weighs 262 grams. The MIX Fold 3 will top this, though we still don’t know by how much, as the tipster did not share the specifics.
The Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 will be an improvement in a number of ways. The most notable additions are wireless charging, water and dust resistance, and a periscope camera, neither of which the MIX Fold 2 offered.
