It’s almost time to dive back into Night City, as the Cyberpunk 2077 expansion, Phantom Liberty, will get a release in just a few months. The expansion’s official release date was revealed as part of the Xbox Games Showcase 2023 on Sunday, June 12.
During the showcase, viewers were treated to an appearance from the actor behind one of the game’s biggest characters. We’re of course referring to Keanu Reeves, who plays Johnny Silverhand.
As Reeves steps on stage, he introduces a new trailer for the Phantom Liberty expansion. In it you get a more in-depth look at the game’s narrative, which sees Idris Elba play the role of a secret agent and you as ‘V’ making your way to Dogtown to save the President. Dogtown is a new area of Night City we haven’t seen before. Which means there’s new things to discover. And undoubtedly at least one new faction of enemies we’ll have to deal with.
A central theme in the story also revolves around getting a cure for V. If you played the base game, then you already know V isn’t doing so well by the end. As the implant in her head begins to take its tole. In Phantom Liberty, it seems there may be a way to save her. Or so you’re told.
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty expansion will release on September 26
While the trailer provides some new footage of both cutscenes and gameplay in addition to dialogue, it also reveals the release date. CDPR had already confirmed it was coming in 2023. But there was no official date of release. Now there is. Players can dive back in on September 26. A couple of short weeks after Starfield arrives. So it’s going to be a busy month for gamers.
You can also pre-order the expansion already as they went live after the trailer yesterday. You can snag it for $29.99 on the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, Epic Games Store, Steam, and GOG.
