Leak reveals camera specs of Galaxy Tab S9 series

As Samsung‘s next Galaxy Unpacked event draws closer, more details about its upcoming products are hitting the internet. Over the past few days, we have learned quite a few new things about the new foldables, tablets, and smartwatches the company will unveil at the event next month. Today, we have further information about the Galaxy Tab S9 series, including the camera specs.

According to tipster Ahmed Qwaider, Samsung will equip the base Galaxy Tab S9 with a 13MP rear camera and a 12MP front camera. If true, the device will lack an ultrawide lens at the back, while the other two sensors carry over unchanged. All three Galaxy Tab S8 models had a 6MP ultrawide lens. The company has upgraded it to an 8MP unit on the Galaxy Tab S9+ and Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra, though. However, they also keep their primary rear camera and front camera(s) unchanged. That means the Ultra model will include a 12MP ultrawide lens on the front.

Elsewhere, all three Galaxy Tab S9 models will reportedly get an under-display fingerprint scanner. Last year’s base model had a side-mounted capacitive fingerprint scanner, though the Plus and Ultra models featured an under-display solution (optical sensor). That’s because they had a Super AMOLED display while the base model featured an LCD screen. The company is upgrading the entire lineup to Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays this year. Screen sizes, resolution, and refresh rate will remain unchanged, though.

The Galaxy Tab S9 series will bring plenty of upgrades

The tipster adds that Samsung will add dual-SIM support to its flagship tablets this year. Like some other devices, the company may limit this functionality to select markets, though. The new leak also mentions an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance on the Galaxy Tab S9 series. Earlier leaks said the tablets will be IP67-rated. Either way, these will be the first flagship Samsung tablets to feature an IP rating. The Korean firm has reportedly improved the quad-speaker setup as well, with the tipster claiming 25 percent better sound quality.

Upgrades don’t end there, though. The Galaxy Tab S9 series will use the much-improved Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 “for Galaxy” processor. Additionally, the new tablets are also expected to get LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage, except for the 128GB storage variant. Samsung doesn’t make 128GB UFS 4.0 storage chips, at least not just yet. As said earlier, the Korean firm will launch the Galaxy Tab S9 series next month. On July 27, to be precise. The Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Watch 6 series will also debut on the same day.
