It’s not exactly a secret that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 will look very similar to its predecessor, with the exception of folding flat, allegedly. Well, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 may change things up, and bring a much-requested design change.
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 is tipped to bring a much-requested design change
This info comes from Revegnus, a tipster. He claims that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will launch with a different aspect ratio of its external display. In other words, it will be closer to most other book-style foldables out there.
As many of you know, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 has a very narrow aspect ratio, well, its cover display does. It has a 23.1:9 aspect ratio, and its predecessors were not any better. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 will continue that tradition, it seems.
The Galaxy Z Fold 4 should bring a notable change in that department. The tipster did not detail the aspect ratio of its outer display, but it’ll be wider. The Huawei Mate X3, Xiaomi MIX Fold 2, HONOR Magic Vs, and other book-style foldables offer aspect ratios the Fold 6 will seemingly strive towards.
The Fold 6’s cover display will likely have a 21:9 aspect ratio, or something close to it
The cover displays on those phones have aspect ratios that are closer to regular phones. The Xiaomi MIX Fold 2, for example, has a 21:9 aspect ratio, which is tall and narrow, but nowhere near the Fold 4. The Mate X3 is also in that ballpark with a 20.9:9 aspect ratio.
Why did users complain about the extremely narrow cover display on the Galaxy Z Fold series? Well, most importantly, it’s not easy to type on. The keys are stuffed together, and it’s not a great experience.
That’s the main reason, at least it was the most frequent complaint, though it’s not the only one, of course. Some users prefer such a narrow layout, of course, but it seems like they’re in the minority.
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 is expected to arrive in Q3 next year. This year, however, we’ll still have to deal with the ultra-narrow Galaxy Z Fold phone. Well, at least based on all the rumors and leaks we’ve seen.
