Your Galaxy Watch will soon notify you of irregular heart rhythms

Samsung‘s irregular heart rhythm notifications for the Galaxy Watch are right around the corner for users with compatible devices. Earlier this year Samsung had announced that the new feature was officially approved by the FDA.

But at the time it didn’t have a launch date to publicly announce.  That technically hasn’t changed as the company doesn’t have an exact date for when the feature will arrive. But it does now confirm that the feature will be coming to watches very soon.

Today, Samsung is announcing the Galaxy Watch devices will be able to receive irregular heart rhythm notifications this Summer. The feature will come to 13 markets. It will also be available on both the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5 smartwatches. However, the feature will appear first on the upcoming Galaxy Watch device launching later this year as part of the One UI 5 Watch update.

The markets where the feature will go live include the US, Argentina, Azerbaijan, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Georgia, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Panama, UAE, and Korea.

Galaxy Watch irregular heart rhythm notifications don’t replace traditional means of treatment

This has been said before but it’s worth repeating. This new feature is not meant to be used as a replacement for detecting irregular heart rhythms using more traditional methods. Think of it more like a compliment to those methods. Working in step to provide you with the necessary information that can help you figure out if there’s something that needs to be addressed.

What the feature can do is alert users of possible AFib activity. The feature works with the existing ECG app to give you deeper insights into your heart health. If you end up getting one of these alerts, it’s not necessarily a cause for concern. You can use the data to consult your physician on whether or not there’s anything to worry about.
