Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will let you decrease combat speed

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will apparently have support for a feature that lets you decrease the game’s combat speed. According to Insider Gaming, the store page for the game on PlayStation’s website was updated to include the details on some new features that weren’t previously mentioned. This includes the ability to decrease the combat speed to 30% of its original speed. This feature also included the ability to change the combat speed to other varying levels. Including 50%, and 70% if you only wanted to slow things down a little bit.

The details on the page appear to have been removed after their initial discovery. But not before the information was jotted down. Worth mentioning is that all of these new features are accessibility-focused. And will allow more players to experience the game at a pace or level that’s comfortable for them. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 officially launches for PS5 on October 20.

Spider-Man 2 combat speed adjustments are part of the game’s accessibility features

Toning down the combat speed is but one of a few different accessibility features that seem to be coming with the game. There’s also a new audio option for screen reader support. According to Insider Gaming this will allow the game to read all on-screen text in menus allowed to the player. So for those that are more visually impaired and have trouble reading small print, this will be quite useful indeed.

Additionally, there’s an option for adding on-screen captions and audio descriptions for cinematics within the game. These new accessibility features build off of what Insomniac added to the game with the release of Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered. When the game was ported to PC, many of these new features, like the ability to shoot up to three webs with a single button press, made life much easier for more players.

Though we imagine that the new decreased combat speed will be particularly useful to a larger group of players. As some might find the game too challenging and this could help them get through it. It could also be a great way to let people ramp up to the game’s base combat state. In the end, more people will be able to enjoy the game. And that’s the important takeaway.
