Nearby Share is getting even faster

When you need to share a file or link using your Android device, Nearby Share is about the best method of doing so. You can share to just about any Android device on the market and to your Windows computer as well. For as quick as it is, Nearby Share is getting quicker by displaying devices on your share sheet.

If you want to know how to use Nearby Share with your Windows computer, it’s pretty easy to set up. We have a handy how-to guide to help you get that up and going. Click here if you want to know.

Nearby Share will display devices on your share sheet

When you’re looking to share something to another device or app, you’ll access your share sheet. It’s the panel that pops up when you tap on the Share button. When you pull up the share sheet, you’ll see the Nearby Share button as an option. This will bring up the list of devices to share to.

However, according to Android Analyst Mishaal Rahman (via Android Police), Google will make sharing even more seamless. He notes that, when you pull up the share sheets, you’ll see a list of specific devices you can share to instantly using Nearby Share. If you share to your Pixel 7 often, you’ll see a shortcut to quickly share to that device right in the share sheet.

This will eliminate having to open up the Nearby Share graphic and wait for the list of devices to load. This previous method didn’t take all that much time to start with, but having the shortcuts makes the process that much quicker.

At this point, it’s slowly rolling out to more users, so you should see it sometime in the near future. We’re not sure how long until it rolls out to everyone, but it shouldn’t be that long of a wait.
