Red Dead Redemption is coming to PS4 and Nintendo Switch

Rockstar Games has announced that Red Dead Redemption is coming to PS4 and Nintendo Switch. Years after the game won over 170 game of the year awards, the epic tale of John Marston is getting updated for more modern consoles. Initially when the game released back in 2010 it came out on PS3 and Xbox 360.

And while this isn’t a completely modernized port coming to the newest consoles, it is jumping forward. What’s more is that Rockstar is also porting over the Undead Nightmare DLC. If you’ve never experienced either before, it’ll be the perfect time to jump in. And even if you don’t own a PS4 you can still pick up the PS4 port on PS5.

Now there are likely to be some people who have played Red Dead Redemption 2 already. And that’s perfectly fine. Because chronologically, Red Dead Redemption 2 comes before Red Dead Redemption. Even if it was released years later.

Red Dead Redemption drops for PS4 and Nintendo Switch this month

Those excited about this release might be even more excited to learn that the release is happening pretty soon. Rockstar has confirmed the game is coming on August 17. First it’ll be available as digital downloads via the PlayStation Store and the eShop. You can’t pre-order it though.

If you’d rather have the physical version, you’ll get the chance. As Rockstar will be releasing physical versions of the game later in the year. Specifically on October 13. You can pick the game up in digital format for $49.99 once it’s available in its respective stores. And that will get you both the main game and the Undead Nightmare DLC.

Red Dead Redemption is also getting support for new languages for the first time ever. With support landing for simplified and traditional Chinese, Korean, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, and Latin American Spanish. You can check out the trailer for the game port below if you haven’t seen it yet, and you can pick up the game in a couple of weeks. This release is great for both PlayStation and Switch players. Partly because Switch players may have never played it. It also hasn’t been available to play on PS4 or PS5 since last year. It used to be on PlayStation Now and then switched to PlayStation Plus Premium. But Rockstar pulled it in October of 2022.
