A few months ago, Snapchat introduced “My AI”, which is AI chat that you can use inside Snapchat and is powered by ChatGPT. It’s a pretty cool feature. Until now. Apparently, a number of users have seen the My AI post a picture to its own story.
Interestingly enough, the image seemed to be the same for everyone. It’s what looks like a wall connecting to a ceiling, with two similar colors connecting. Understandably, this frightened a number of users, as they thought this was a picture of their own wall.
Anyone else’s Snapchat My AI post to their story??? pic.twitter.com/8DNAKe1JXI

Quickly after the picture was posted, Snapchat’s My AI went offline, and those that tried to interact with it got an error message saying that it was experiencing a “technical issue”. It came back online after some time, though the post did remain deleted. Users were able to ask the system what happened, and in a response to one person, My AI said that the post was a “fun way to mix things up” and then apologized.
This scared a lot of people, and now many are searching for how to delete Snapchat
Since this happened overnight, searches for “delete Snapchat” have skyrocketed. You can also tell almost exactly when this happened, which looks to be around 8PM or 9PM ET on Tuesday, August 16.
It’s a bit interesting that so many were searching for how to Delete Snapchat, when you can just uninstall the app. But rather interesting that this made so many people want to get rid of the service. It was mostly likely a bug, and not a picture taken of your room or your home.
But it is pretty easy to delete your Snapchat account if you wish to do so:
Tap the gear button in the Profile screen to open Settings.
Scroll down to ‘Account Actions’.
Tap ‘Delete Account‘.
Follow the steps to delete your account.
And your account will be deleted. And then My AI won’t post to its story any longer on your device.
