Google adds support to the Pixel recorder for favoriting your recordings. The new update also lets you choose the audio channel between mono and stereo for recording. Google rolled out the update just after launching thePixel 8 series. These two additions to the Pixel recorder add to the user experience of a Pixel device.
Have you ever searched for a recorded audio file for a while? Sometimes it becomes a bit difficult to find an unnamed recording in the list. Well, if you use a Pixel device, then Google has a solution for you.
You can now mark an important recording with the star icon next to the Share, Edit, Search, and the overflow menu in the top toolbar inside your Pixel’s recorder. Your favorite recordings will show up in a dedicated feed, and those recordings will also be marked with the star icon in the main list. Additionally, the ‘Favorites’ section is also synced to recorder.google.com to make them accessible from any device you might be using.
Pixel recorder lets you choose ‘Audio channel’ according to your use case
According to9TO5Google, the new Pixel recorder (version 4.2.220230908.x) also lets you choose the audio channel between mono and stereo. This might be helpful for optimizing the stereo effect and file size based on your specific situation.
While audio recordings do not consume a significant amount of storage, it may not be necessary to capture two different channels if there’s typically only one source in your use cases. For example, if you are using the Pixel recorder app to record only your voice (a single source), it becomes unnecessary to keep two separate channels (left and right).
In scenarios like this, switching to mono audio will essentially reduce the file size without hindering the quality. It merges data from the stereo mic setup into a single channel.
