The wheel of time continues to turn, so older devices and operating systems get run over as time goes on. This is what’s been going on with Android 7 Nougat recently. 2023 is the year that this version of Android started losing support for many services and software. According to a new report, Android 7 is losing support for Chrome and Calendar.
Android 7 was released back in 2016. It came just two iterations after the implementation of Google’s Material Design. So, there weren’t too many new visual changes or additions to the software. What was significant about this version of Android was that it debuted on the world’s first Pixel Phone. Other phones that were released that year were the LG V20, Galaxy Note 7, HTC 10, and the OnePlus 3.
Android 7 is losing support for Chrome and Calendar
If you’re still rocking a phone running Android 7, then you should have known that this was coming. Google is gearing up to drop software support for some of its apps, and these are major apps. The company will officially drop Chrome support for Android 7.1 and below in early 2024. We found out that the company was cutting Nougat loose a little while back with the version of Android not getting Chrome version 120. Your Android 7 phone is stuck on version 119 until it eventually dies.
Much the same thing is happening with another popular Google app, Google Calendar. The latest version of the app that’s about to roll out is version 2023-46-0-581792699, and that’s only for Android 8+. So, your Android 7 phone is stuck on the current version of the software.
