Want to give your site some personality? Why not add a .meme domain?

So, you’re looking to make a new website, but you don’t want to be so serious; you want to have some fun. There are a ton of different domain names that you can choose from, and you don’t want to use boring old .com, .org, or .net (yawn). Well, according to a new report, Google now lets you register your sites with the .meme domain name.

When you’re making a website, you’ll need to choose a domain. It’s one of the several things that you’ll need to pay for when you’re setting it up. Usually, domains don’t cost more than $10 – $15 every year. After you create your domain, you can then choose it through your website builder. When you’re choosing your domain, you can see all of the different domains that you can potentially assign. You’d be surprised at all of the different domains that are available.

Google now lets you use the .meme domain name

There are a ton of different domains that you can pick, but if the traditional offerings are a little “suit and tie” for you, how about .meme? That’s right, Google Registry just released the new .meme domain.

Just to clarify, we’re not talking about Google Domains. That service was sold to Squarespace this September, so if you want to buy a domain, you’ll want to go through that site.

Rather, The Google Registry is the reservoir of available domains that other services can let you buy. The company announced that the registry was updated to include the .meme domain. However, it’s not available to the general public to buy. It’s on an early access program for the next couple of days. If you want to gain early access to your new .meme site, you’ll need to pay an additional fee.

However, if you want to avoid the fee, you can wait until December 5th when it reaches the public. Some people just couldn’t wait and created sites dedicated to some legendary memes. There’s a grumpycat.meme, nyancat.meme, and keyboardcat.meme. As you can tell, these sites are dedicated to showcasing a punch of memes.
