Did Google One quietly remove the 200GB plan? It seems so

A lot happened this week at Google HQ. The company first hinted that it has close to 100 million subscribers. Expectedly, it confirmed 100 million subscribers in a matter of days. Now, it seems Google One has quietly removed the 200GB plan. This means Google has pulled off the plug for a $2.99/month 200GB option.

Google One quietly removed the 200GB plan

According to GoogleWatchBlog, Google has taken down the 200GB plan. This means users no longer have a middle option between the 100GB and 2TB plans.

If the removal is applied to all accounts, there will be four Google One storage tiers left. Firstly, the basic free tier with 15GB space. Then, a 100GB plan is priced at $1.99 per month. For those needing more space, there’s the $9.99/month plan offering 2TB of storage. Additionally, if you’re interested in extra features, you can choose the $19.99/month plan, which also includes access to Gemini Advanced.

Wait, Google hasn’t updated the FAQ page yet

Android Police reports Google may be hiding the 200GB plan for new subscribers so that the 2TB AI Premium option stands out more. Like how you can’t see the bigger plans unless you’re signed in. The fact that people on the 100GB plan can still see it supports this idea. Google hasn’t updated its FAQ page either, it still talks about the 200GB plan.

Also, when folks at 9to5Google tested signing up for 200GB from another account, the plan was still there. Whether this is a selective removal, or gradually rolling out to everyone can’t be clarified at this moment. But one thing’s clear Google is focusing more on the AI Premium Tier — which comes with over 2TB and costs $19.99 per month.

Notably, Google hasn’t said anything about killing the 200GB plan, so whether this is a mistake or it has killed the plan remains unconfirmed, at the time of writing.
