Galaxy A54 & A34 receive One UI 6.1 update without AI features

After flagships, Samsung has started pushing the One UI 6.1 update to its mid-range phones. The Galaxy A54 and Galaxy A34 are expectedly the first A series models to pick up the new One UI version. Unsurprisingly, neither phone is getting AI features with this update.

Galaxy A54 and Galaxy A34 receive Samsung’s One UI 6.1 update

As of this writing, One UI 6.1 is rolling out to the Galaxy A54 and Galaxy A34 in South Korea. Samsung began the rollout in its home country for all models, so this was expected. The new firmware build numbers for the 2023 mid-range duo are A546SKSU4CXDC and A346NKSU5CXD5, respectively. Note that their successors, the Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A35, shipped with One UI 6.1 out of the box.

Samsung will soon expand this One UI update for the Galaxy A54 and Galaxy A34 in other markets. However, if you were expecting new AI features from the Galaxy S24 series, you’d be disappointed to find none. The Korean firm didn’t even push them to the Galaxy S21 series (barring one or two features) due to compatibility issues, so no wonder they are missing on the mid-range duo.

That doesn’t make this update totally useless, though. The Galaxy A54 and Galaxy A34 are receiving many new goodies and changes. For starters, you can now move subjects from one photo to another. One UI 6.1 also brings a precise cropping feature, wallpaper editor, more lock screen widgets, more intuitive calendar settings, reminder categories, improved health features, improved multitasking, and more.

You may not be getting new AI features, but One UI 6.1 is still a valuable update for your Galaxy A54 or Galaxy A34. In Korea, the update brings the April security patch to the devices. Samsung has already released the May patch but it hasn’t pushed the new security update to many devices. The Galaxy S24 series is the only recipient so far. Other eligible models may get it in the coming days.

More Galaxy devices will receive this update soon

One UI 6.1 will reach more Galaxy devices in the coming days, including premium mid-range phones in the Galaxy M, F, and C series. Do not expect AI features on any of them. Samsung has mostly kept Galaxy AI limited to flagships launched in 2022 and later. If you are using a Galaxy smartphone or tablet, you can check for new software updates from the Software update menu in the Settings app.
